Hi guys, first, I want to say sorry. I know that there are many many threads about this kind of topics before. I read through them and find it somewhat useful but not really what I want to ask. Well, my story is as follow.... Today my school had early release but the swim team still had practice at 3:30. After school end, I went to my public library to find a book to read and wait till 3:30. I always want to start a club at the library, but I never have time to. Therefore, since I'm at the library, I want to take the first step toward create the club. I talked to the Librarian about create the club or a workshop. She seem to like it and ask me to write a document of the programs. However, that is just my problems. I need to find all the good informations about Go and put them together. There are certain things I need to contain in my Request Form. 1. An introduction of the game. 2. What the program will do. 3. What is the age limits? Explain. 4. What are the benefit of the Program toward kids and the members of the program? I want to finish this document by Friday or as soon as possible. This thread's mean point is to get your ideas about these questions. I will also start to work on these questions about post it. So, please feel free to post anythings related to the topic. I'll check it frequently. Thank you. ~WQ PS: By the way Shimari, I think I'm going to need a lot of helps from AGA and AGF.

1. Quote something from the AGA book The Way to Go by Karl Baker 2. Ideas: Local fundraisers, participation at local cultural festivals, in person/online instructions, encourage members to participate in AGA tournaments 3. If it's a youth program allow several adult supervisors. Otherwise the members should be under 18. 4.The program will be culturally enriching and mentally stimulating. It is an engaging outlet for kids to exercise their capabilities. Also the program will give kids an opportunity to bond and make friends. |

I'm not sure where this falls under, but you could say that it teaches kids to be more logical thinkers. ex: if you know a group is dead, don't waste more stones on it, or if one group will deffinatly die (out of two groups) chose the one with more benefits and forget about the dead group. I hope those examples helped. ?? ??? ? ? |

Download these files: http://www.usgo.o...rtclub.doc http://www.usgo.o...OABapp.doc Here is a good article that will interest them in Go: http://www.usgo.o...limeGo.pdf Many more resources are here: http://www.usgo.o...alKit.html "Go is to Western chess what philosophy is to double entry accounting." -Trevanian Paul Barchilon, American Go Foundation |

Oh thank you Paul, you just give me a really big hint. hmm, do you think i can "borrow" your words to include in my document? they sound really persuading. (i need those kind of things to write about but can't think of any. plus, my writing skill is just sad) i'll keep post as soon as problems occur. i'm really busy these days, getting my college applications ready and swim team managing. ah~~ just too overwhelming. still, i won't go back on this go club. will make it happen. last night i also learn how to sing go song (thinking that children will think it's fun) but i find out that i'm really bad at singing. =_=lll anyways. need to go to sleep. get quiz tomorrow for calculus. night. ps: Paul, what should I do to request HNG set for my library? they don't have it on their comic section. Feel free to use any and all of my language, that is why I have it up on the AGA site. If you need a reference for the library, my local librarians can vouch for how great Go is for kids. You can request Hikaru with your starter set, but need to have the librarian contact us directly to approve it.

Erin isn't at our library anymore, our current librarian is Melanie Howard, at the Boulder Public Library here in Colorado. You can put both of us down as references, and send your librarian to our library website: http://boulderlib...ts/go.html Melanie is a Childrens and Teens Librarian, so they can reach her by calling the number listed on the library website, it is at the bottom of the Go Club page. Yeah, that is sometimes the case. However, you can get other people interested if you work at it. Think of Tetsuo trying to launch a club, and how excited he was when he got Hikaru and Akari to join him ^_^ Go here for some suggestions: https://tigersmou...hread_id=7 "Go is to Western chess what philosophy is to double entry accounting." -Trevanian Paul Barchilon, American Go Foundation |

Isn't Tetsuo kaga? I think you meant Tsutsui.

Oh, right, Tsutsui. I think I was confusing the name with the character in Akira
