Any one downloaded gnugo? its not bad! In fact you can get some good practice playing against it. My only complaint is acually getting it to work on my computer. I must have downloaded and redownload at least 20 times before I did it correctly. I guess I'll spread the topic out a little more. Does anybody train with a gobot on their computer? Which one? Does it bug you to lose to a computer? |

I have a game I bought at Wal-Mart that had 4-5 eastern games on it, one of which was go. I haven't been able to beat it yet. I also had a go bot on KGS called Acciobot, and I lost miserably against it.

I downloaded SmartGo v2 with the 15 day free trial. It has LOTS of ranked problems and games in its library that you can review. Plus, you get to play against the computer on a 19x19 board. You can set how good your computer fights back too. ![]() Of course, after the 15 day trial you can only play on the 9x9 board and some of the library's games disappear. You'll have to buy it to get everything back.......Or like me, don't buy it, and play on the 9x9 board and still play with LOTS of ranked problems and games. =) KGS: Rakurai Rank: 4kyu Age: 16 -Andrew Bailey- My Rank Graph on KGS |

I use Go++, you can play against a bot on a 19x19 board and can also set how strong it is.

The computer programs are getting stronger all the time. They are fun for beginners, but don't play them too much. They can really skew your game, because they don't think like humans (or at all really). Make sure you get plenty of games against real people to compensate for this, otherwise you will develop some bad habits.

I went 4-4 in the self-paired tournament at the Congress this year, and I came away with The Optimist trophy. XD
